++According to Sky News the Attorney General who the Sunlight Centre reported to the UKBA over employing an overstayer last week has been fined £5,000++

The UK Border Agency began an inquiry into Attorney General Baroness Scotland after it emerged she had employed an illegal migrant.

Lady Scotland fired 27-year-old Loloahi Tapui, from Tonga, when it was revealed she had been living in Britain illegally for five years after overstaying a student visa.

Sky sources say the Attorney General will accept the fine, but is not expected to resign her post.  Surely as the Chief Law Officer in England and Wales she should beyond reproach.

Gordon Brown has said that he will wait until the outcome of the UKBA inquiry before making a decision on the future of the Baroness.

Chris Galley the Sunlight Centre’s Research Director said this morning:

”As Chief law Officer for England and Wales Baroness Scotland should be beyond reproach and I believe this matter has made her position untenable”
