LibDems: Inquiry? No need for an inquiry here!
There has not been much movement on the case of Lord Rennard since the Sunlight Centre reported him to the Committe for Privileges, but one might at least expect the Lib Dems to be doing something about allegations of serious corruption by its own former CEO. Nothing of the kind. This from Agent Orange:
Lib Dem News reported on Friday that Party President Ros Scott has co-hosted a second party with former Chief Executive Lord Rennard. This while she remains responsible for reporting on the party’s progress in tackling expenses abuses and he remains under investigation for falsely claiming over £41k.
Via email, Agent Orange tells us that Cowley House don’t even seem to think there’s an issue here. Inquiring about the status of the Lib Dems’ supposed independent inquiry, headed up by Rennard’s pal, Baroness Scott, AO was told that there’s no need to clear Lord Rennard, because he hasn’t done anything wrong!
The Sunlight Centre reported Rennard to the Committee on Privileges about three weeks ago. We’ll be interested to see if they agree with Scott’s assessment.
