Immediately after the Charity Commission report into the Smith Institute was released Sunlight COPs made a Freedom of Information application for documents associated with the investigation. After the 2001 investigation the documents were released. This time the Commission claimed an exemption.

We feel that this is unjustified and that it is in the public interest to see how a public body conducts and handles an investigation into a public charity.

We will be appealing the decision.
