Blue shaded area represents time when Simon Cawte became Chief of Staff to the Conservative Party Chairman upon Caroline Spelman’s appointment. Since this is a party political post he should have come off her Parliamentary Staffing Allowance.

We have been looking into Caroline Spelman’s expense irregularities for some weeks. On the basis of what we have discovered we are considering making a formal complaint to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, John Lyon.

Immediately after the Charity Commission report into the Smith Institute was released Sunlight COPs made a Freedom of Information application for documents associated with the investigation. After the 2001 investigation the documents were released. This time the Commission claimed an exemption.
